Gamer Nation: The Rise of the Digital Culture, and How it Affects You
by Benny Rockwell (The Gamer)
It’s Gaming 101 for Parents - What are your kids are talking about, really?
What do ratings mean? (Like the G, PG, PG-13, R ratings for movies), the different game types, like “side scroller”, MMORPG, simulation, first person shooter, etc –
Benny will sort it all out for you and make YOU the “Totally Awesome Aficionado of Gaming”!
Digital Dismemberment:
Integrating Historic Martial Arts Techniques Into the Modern Game Design
by Sir Steaphen Fick
From Soul Caliber to Symphony of the Night - Legacy of Kain to Legend of Zelda, the honorable symbol of the knightly sword and its relative blades has endured into the realm of magic, myth, and legend. But the question stands, in an age of peoples who thirst for the truth, what is that sword and how was it really...really used?
Here, within a live demonstration by 20 year sword fighting veteran, Maestro Steaphen Fick of Davenriche European Martial Arts School (DEMAS), the myth of clumsy "hack and slash" is shattered by the truth of combat science "cut and thrust".
Welcome to the re-emergence of Renaissance and Medieval martial arts: welcome to the new stage of history.

Benny Rockwell - Segment Producer for Youth and Gaming
(aka "The Gamer")
Better known on Digital Computer Talk as The Gamer, Benny Rockwell has been brought up with access to computers and gaming that rivals most teenagers his age. Disney's original coaster program was one of the first adventures that Benny had in gaming, and he progressed through a variety of programs, games, handheld gaming devices, and consoles. His experience includes playing early versions of Counter-Strike alongside his father, Quake III, as well as Sim-Tower, Sim-City, Roller Coaster Tycoon, and many more.
His exposure to gaming runs an entire on-line universe of space, action, and adventure, in all areas from XBox to Wii, Gameboy to DS, Arcades to PC. Even when he is unfamiliar with a particular game, he takes the time to quickly research and discover new trends in the industry. This passion contributes towards making a better show for people who want to know more about what their peers, children, grandchildren, and so forth, are interested in.
Benny also has strengths in the fields of social media, graphic art design, and his passion for helping the show has developed into a valuable asset for Digital Computer Talk. Progressing from simply chiming in once in a while, to developing his own segments and material for the show, Benny has amazed the staff, listeners, and guests at every turn.
Benny's Christmas Gift Segments are a treat to listen to, and provide an echo of what today's youth are interested in, and what they would like to have for Christmas or other gifts.
Maestro Steaphen Fick of Davenriche European Martial Arts School (DEMAS) began his study of the European weapons on 1989 and began teaching in 2000. Mr. Fick has written a book called The Beginner’s Guide to the Longsword, published by Black Belt Books. He has presented at Stanford University for the medical department and for the History Department for the UC System as well as demonstrations for schools from K-8.
Starting in 1989 Steaphen spent 7 years traveling throughout California participating in fully armoured tournaments at Renaissance Faires. After the tournament company disbanded, he began training with the lighter weapons like the rapier. In 1999 he traveled to the UK to study swordsmanship and other weapons with a Maestro in Edinburgh, Scotland. Steaphen began studying the Rapier and Dagger and became a recognized authority on the English system of Joseph Swetnam (written in 1617) and has used Swetnam’s system in four international Rapier and Dagger tournaments. He won the last two tournaments he entered, and he has competed in tournaments at various reenactments around the UK as well.

Steaphen also teaches Fully Armoured Combat to students. He currently has schools in Santa Clara and Morgan Hill, California.
Steaphen is also the founder of the Renaissance Fencing Camp also known as ‘Sword Camp’ to provide four days of instruction to the enthusiasts of California six years ago. Benjamin Rockwell is the host of Computer Talk Radio, Benjamin Rockwell, has been working with computers professionally for years.
Benjamin started off in computers when he was a pre-teenager, and computer selection was small. His first class in computing was on a Commodore Vic 20, and he hasn’t stopped working with computers since. Along the way he became proficient in the Apple II series, awide range of TRS-80’s, and other Commodore systems.
After getting married, he discovered Bulletin Board Systems (a type of precursor to the Internet as we know it), and became so fascinated with the concept that he set up his own BBS. A friend offered him a job as a field technician in 1990, and Benjamin hasn’t stopped since.
While he casually refers to himself as a computer nerd, he doesn’t come across as the stereotypical obsessed nerd with a pocket protector. Instead, he just seems like someone who is eager to help others. From being a field technician and help desk technician, to being a specialist in various fields, all the way to having spent over 8 years as Information Services Director for various small companies, and a computer consultant for hundreds of individuals and small companies, Benjamin has seen his share of computer problems.
Benjamin has years of hands-on experience with computers, and a passion for learning new things and teaching them to others. He works to ensure that he’s operating on the same wavelength as the people he talks to, and works to develop friendships at the same time. Benjamin’s polite nature, patience and understanding come from having been in the shoes of the new user on many occasions. With his easy going nature, he comes to the rescue and helps people see how their computer can work for them.
Benjamin's background includes a wide variety of technical roles, from helping people turn on their computers, and building computer systems for his clients, to conducting training classes, network troubleshooting, and database programming. Whether he’s developing a website, configuring a router, or tweaking a server, he excels at making things work. Everyone with computers has problems with them, and he specializes in making sure their computers are running as well as his.
Benjamin lives in Southern California near some of the headquarters of the biggest names in the computer industry with his wife and son.
